The Department of gastroenterology is one of the oldest department in the city. Ever since the initiation of clinical activities, it has been one of the busiest and most active departments of the hospital. Today, the department is an established referral centre for specialized and quality care for patients with Gastroenterologic, Hepatologic and Pancreato-biliary disorders as well as for advanced GI endoscopic procedures. The Gastroenterology outpatient department runs six days a week.

Department is providing IPD facility 24x7 including in general ward, HDU, ICU and in Critical care unit. Endoscopy services of the department provide the full range of standard diagnostic and therapeutic procedures commonly practiced. In particular, the focus is on a wide range of cutting-edge procedures ie. diagnostic upper gi endoscopy, proctosigmoidoscopy and full colonoscopy, therapeutic ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatiography), polypectomy, endoscopic variceal ligation, sclerotherapy, endoscopic glue injection, intraop enteroscopy, achalasia balloon dilatation, esophageal and antral stricture dilatation, metal stent (SEMS) placement in esophageal cancer and gastric cancer.

Department is proving IPD facilities for sick and critical patient 24x7. It has the most advanced and state of art endoscopy theatre in Gwalior. All endoscopic procedures are performed with one of the most advanced endoscopic system used in India (Olympus 190 series scope). These endoscopes also have very advance NBI feature, that can detect disease or any lesion in a very early stage.
