This lady was suffering from excruciating right upper limb radicular pain since past 3 months. On MRI she was diagnosed to have a right posterolateral disc prolapse at c5-6 level.

We did a MIS Posterior laminoforaminotomy and freed the affected nerve. Her pain was relieved immediately after the surgery. She was ambulated on the next day and was discharged on 2nd day of surgery.

Advantages of laminoforaminotomy over traditional anterior cervical discectomy and fusion

- no fusion of vertebra leading to no loss of mobility.

- less risk of adjacent segment disease.

- no postoperative dysphagia.
