Post graduate programme is essential to prepare nurses to improve the quality of nursing education and practice in India. Post graduate programmes in nursing builds upon and extended competence acquired at the graduate levels emphasizes application of relevant theories of nursing practice, education, administration and development of research skills.

The programme prepares nurses for leadership in nursing and health fields who can function as nurse specialists, consultants, educators, administrators and researchers in a wide variety of professional setting in meeting the National priorities and the changing needs of the society.

This programme provides the basis for the post masteral programme in nursing. Further the programme encourages accountability and commitment to life long learning which fosters improvement of quality care.

A nurse, on completion of this course, will be able to : Demonstrate competency in providing health care to
individuals, sick or well, using nursing process.

* Assess the nursing need of clients from birth to death.

* Plan and carry out appropriate action to meet nursing needs.

* Provide effective nursing care for maintaining best possible level of health in all aspects.

* Promote self care in people under their care.

* Apply problem solving techniques in nursing practice.

B.Sc Nursing - 4 Years Degree (60 Seats) / Post Basic B.Sc Nursing.  (25 Seats)  
On completion of Post-Basic B. Sc. Nursing degree programme the graduates will be able to:

Assess health status, identify nursing needs, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for patients/clients that contribute to health of individuals, families and communities.

Demonstrate competency in techniques of nursing based on concepts and principles from selected areas of nursing, physical, biological and behavioral sciences.

Participate as members of healthcare team in the promotive, preventive, curative and restorative health care delivery system of the country.

Demonstrate skills in communication and interpersonal relationship.

Demonstrate leadership qualities and decision-making abilities in various situations.

Demonstrate skills in teaching to individuals and groups in community health settings.
