The Department of Surgical Oncology is one of the pioneers in the field of breast cancer, thyroid cancer, head and neck cancer and gynecological cancer. The department is involved in the surgical management of all sorts of solid tumors with specific interest in cancers of breast, ovaries, endometrium, head and neck. In collaboration with medical oncology, anesthesia & other departments, the department organises cancer detection camps & awareness programmes on breast cancer, lung cancer, head& neck cancer & cancer pain management.

Department of oncology at BIMR Hospitals is uniquely enabled for providing comprehensive orthopaeic oncology and sarcoma services. It perhaps the only center in central India with dedicated team for management of these rare and complex cases. All patient presenting with benign or malizent bone and soft tissue tumors are managed by a multispecialty team consisting of orthopaedic oncologist, radiologist, Pathologist, medical oncologist, Reconstructive surgeons, surgical and radiation oncologist, physiotherapist consultants and nurses .
