Department of Hematology
The department of Hematology is a composite department provides both Clinical Hematology and Hemato-Pathology services to the Institute. Hemato-Pathology provides state-of-the-art evaluation of blood and bone marrow diseases. Expert hematopathology services offered by the department include: Bone marrow examination including cytochemistry,hemolytic and coagulation tests.Advanced services like Flowcytometry which is the backbone of hematological diagnosis; molecular diagnostics and HPLC will be available soon.
Clinical Hematology service provides comprehensive management for patients with bothbenign and malignant hematologicaldisorders. These include blood cancers (Leukemia, Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma, Myelodysplastic syndrome, Myeloproliferative neoplasm), disorders associated with low haemoglobin (various types of anaemia – including autoimmune hemolyticanemia, thalassemia and sickle cell anaemia), Low platelets (ITP), bleeding and coagulation disorders (haemophilia and others),thrombophilias, Aplastic anaemia, Inherited Bone marrow failure syndrome and other rare diseases. Bone marrow transplant for leukemias, lymphomas, myelomas and other disease like hemoglobinopathies, primary immunodeficiency will be starting soon in the department.
